Introducing the new board members behind InnovateHer’s Mission

Written by: on May 19, 2023

InnovateHer is a social enterprise on a mission to get girls ready for the tech industry, and the tech industry ready for girls. We work with young people in schools to improve their tech career aspirations through interactive and inspiring workshops and eLearning courses. As well as supporting the tech industry to create inclusive workplaces which support women and the next generation once they get there.

Our ambition is to work with 1 million girls/non-binary people by 2032, globally ensuring they all know there is a place in the tech industry for them.

Our board is vital to our mission, and we are so proud to have such a strong and diverse group of people supporting our work behind the scenes.

Meet our new board members!

During the pandemic we made the decision to create a new board to support us with our mission. We also wanted to make our team more diverse and representative of the communities we serve.

Chaired by the formidable Dr. Ronda Zelezny-Green, our board has been running for 2 years supporting us to sustain our enterprise through a global pandemic and achieving the goals outlined in our 10 year ambition. We truly couldn’t do it without their guidance.

This year we recruited a few new faces to join us for the next two years, who we’d like to introduce you to;

Laura Herbert, Chief People Officer at Apadmi

Laura is Chief People Officer at Apadmi, a digital consultancy that creates technology to lead organisations and their customers forward. In her role, she is responsible for attracting, training and retaining the best talent. As she looks to drive Apadmi’s growth agenda from 210 colleagues in the UK today to over 1500 over 5 countries in the next 5 years.

Laura brings a wealth of experience to the InnovateHer Advisory Board. She works across a number of HR-related disciplines in both Public and Private sectors and has a passion for enabling young people to unlock their potential, no matter their background or story.

Raised in Western Australia, and having lived and worked on five continents including the UK, she now lives in Atlanta, Georgia in the US, with her husband, son and two cats. Hayley is passionate about diversity of talent, experience, and thought, with focus on equality of opportunity for women and girls. Her experience in IP law, being a driving force for EDI at Brabners her so well-suited to being on our board.

Our fantastic new board members will bring exciting and varied perspectives to our work, helping us tackle gender barriers in Tech.

The expansion of our board provides a vital dimension to InnovateHer as it symbolises the commitment that we have of wanting a strong and experienced board to support us in propelling our mission and goals. After all, teamwork makes the dreamwork!
