STEM. What is STEM? STEM is the acronym for Science, Tech, Engineering and Mathematics. It embodies a vital industry. An industry that is key to the future. One that is powerful and filled with opportunity.
As of 2023, 7.8% of all jobs in the UK are STEM jobs; it’s a growing industry, and “jobs in the future will increasingly require skills that STEM study helps to develop.” STEM is a big part of the future, and conquering related skills will help you succeed within it.
However, the industry lacks equality and representation. Women in the UK STEM workforce make up less than 30%. The STEM industry needs equality as it requires different perspectives, skills, and talent to have a long-term impact.

Passion is vital, as “females are less likely to enrol in STEM-related fields” believing that you deserve to be there as much as anyone is a starting step to conquering STEM. Your passion matters. It’s a reason for you to keep going.
That passion will make you motivated. It will make you unstoppable.
And who doesn’t want to be unstoppable?
It’s no secret that growing your knowledge develops skills, which would make you a STEM expert, which raises “the quantity and quality of STEM qualified people in the UK”, showing that to conquer STEM becoming an expert is key.
Expanding your knowledge in STEM doesn’t only mean extra learning; it’s also a case of practising; through practice, you’re able to gain a stronger understanding. After all, practice makes perfect!
When you find the area in STEM that’s for you, there will be several different ways you can put things into practice, whether through online learning, experiments, or developing your own Code, for example.
