We were contacted by Flexera this year, who were extremely passionate about diversifying their talent pipeline. From our extensive experience in delivering D&I services, we have found that the most effective way to diversify and retain talent is to nourish the whole career journey, starting with inclusive and accessible tech education for teens.

After our initial meet, it was clear to us that the team at Flexera had the tech expertise and raw passion to inspire the next generation of techies, and through our tech education platform, we are confident that together, we will be able to curate and deliver inspiring tech education to teens across the UK.

The aim of this article is to introduce Flexera to our amazing, and through their own words, to learn about their organisation – their passions, their values, and their hopes for this future partnership.

Welcome on board! Can you tell our network a little more about what you do?

We are a technology company that provides software to some of the world’s largest companies. We help IT executives make sense of their IT footprint (like licenses) and figure out things like moving to the cloud.

Where are you based, and how long have you been established?

We are a global company, based outside of Chicago. We have been around since the 80s!

Impressive stuff. What are the reasons behind supporting a social enterprise like ours?

One of our DEI goals is to spark the love of STEM in women and other underrepresented groups.

Do you think that our partnership will have any positive impact on your employees?

We are confident that more diversity and inclusion will make us a better business all around.

Why do you feel diversity and inclusion are important in the workplace? Has any of this positively/negatively impacted your business?

Research has shown that more diversity leads to better business results.

Why do you feel it is important to support and empower often underprivileged and minority youths? What benefit do you feel this brings to society and the workplace?

We believe it has to be a deliberate, concerted effort to partner with groups like InnovateHer to not only educate underrepresented groups about STEM but also start recruiting Flexera “fans” at an early age. Plus we get to support the local community, as one of our core values (what we call “how we roll”) is “Give Back.”

We’re honored to have you on board with us, and hope it’s for the long run! What are your hopes for this partnership?

Recruiting, driving more inclusion, giving back to the local community, and furthering our employer brand.

As you know we are a values-led business – what can you tell us about the values at Flexera?

People work (and stay) at Flexera for the people/camaraderie and meaningful work. We have six values: Give Back, Candor, Passion, Professionalism, Keep Score, and Celebrate Success.

A final word

We are honored to have Flexera on this journey with us, and with their talent, experience, and passion we hope to be able to utilize them to inspire and empower the young people that immerse themselves into our new online offering.
