Responsibilities

The Operations Manager role, within the Mersey Operations Department, will lead operational delivery and embed consistent approaches across operational areas which include, Port of Liverpool, Birkenhead, Manchester Ship Canal, Runcorn Lay bye, Warburton Toll Bridge.

 

Responsibilities will also include:

– Ensure that all operational delivery and support requirements are achieved throughout the business areas, reviewing shipping schedules and berthing plans.

– Support all operational requirements as directed by the Operations & Trading Director.

– Ensure the infrastructure is maintained and improved as required, including any extended responsibility for other parts of the dock estate.

– Align operations and engineering to ensure effective port performance.

– Ensure that business strategic decisions and resulting change programs are successfully delivered into port operations within a sustainable framework.

– Day to day account management of existing contracted accounts.

– Ensure all activities are carried out in compliance with internal policies and procedures and external statutory requirements in relation to health, safety, environment, engineering, quality and ISPS standards.

– Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve overall and day to day productivity and profitability through operational improvements.

 

Skills and Experience

– Experience within a General Operations management role.

– Previous budgetary management and control experience.

– Demonstrable background in delivering improved productivity and financial performance initiatives to industrialised operations.

– Proven individual and team management, leadership and change management skills.

– Excellent communication skills with the ability to liaise with all levels of the organisation.

– IOSH Managing Safely.
