SHE Advisor – Environment

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensuring that there is timely and consistent advice, support, coaching and governance of SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) standards and legislation to support all activities across the organisation
  • To support in the development and embedding of a robust and compliant environmental practice within the Submarines business and support the SHE improvement programme
  • Supporting, leading and delivering key risk reduction and improvement projects / activities
  • Ensure professional and accountable interface with all stakeholders including all functional leads, regulators, contractors, and customers
  • To ensure all applicable aspects of the Safety, Health and Environment Operational Plan and Strategy is delivered to schedule across all submarine sites
  • Provide support to audits and investigations, producing comprehensive reports with root cause analysis

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Knowledge of environmental management and environmental risk assessment/aspect and impact assessment
  • The ability to interpret and apply formal Regulations, best practice and guidance
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills including stakeholder interaction report writing and investigative skills  
  • Proven background of driving a positive environmental culture

Desirable:

  • Proven background of undertaking audit and investigations
  • Worked in a regulated / heavily regulated environment
  • Ability to deliver training / coaching
  • Environmental responsibility as part of a previous role

Essential Qualification:

  • Degree or higher level qualification in environmental or science based subject, or IEMA qualification / NVQ Level 3 in Environmental Management

As an Environmental Advisor with the Safety, Health and Environment Team, you will be involved in one of the most exciting engineering programmes in the UK, providing professional environmental advice to ensure environmentally compliant and safe construction, test and delivery of Nuclear Submarines.
