Publishing QA Manager
Avalanche Studios Group is looking for a Publishing QA Manager to help setup and manage a new centralized testing team in our new Liverpool studio. The new team will be focusing mainly on publishing related testing but also some specialized testing and QA functions. The goal is to ensure that all our self published titles have a consistent high quality level during development and when they get released to our players.
As Publishing QA Manager at Avalanche Studios Group, you will be responsible for building the in-house team, determining the onboarding, training and process implementation needs and seeing them all turn into reality. This role will also be the main stakeholder for organizing all QA outsourcing within self publishing.
Responsibilities and expectations
- Strong People Management skills – An ability to guide the team to continuously improve their ways of working and aim for excellence both as a unit and as individuals, with a focus on ensuring team efforts scale to the organizational needs.
- Expert Communicator – Liaison with the Director of Publishing Services and other leaders in Publishing Services to find synergies, improve efficiency and define strategies between the department teams and beyond.Ensuring that the team has good collaboration and communication with all self publishing projects and stakeholders.
- Project Management – Ensuring the team have the resources and processes needed to meet the needs and road maps for the all self publishing projects. Streamline the self publishing QA outsourcing strategy to make it coherent and cost effective. Support our projects with outsourcing coordination. Drive test planning, creation, estimation, execution, reporting and finding the right metrics to keep all relevant stakeholders in the loop on our products’ quality and progress.
- Strong Individual Contributor – Support the team hands-on when needed due to workload spikes, team member absence etc.
- Quality Assurance Subject Matter Expertise – Proven track record as a lead within a publishing environment in the area of quality assurance & platform compliance
- Some travel required
Desired Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills across teams and cultures
- Proactive mentality, strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Strong understanding of QA methodologies and tools, video game testing standards, and the video game development cycle
- Experience in testing full games and live product(s) with frequent release cycles combined with a strong knowledge and expertise of technical certification requirements
- Experience leading a small diverse QA team, and successfully growing team’s capability level
- Experience promoting quality achievement and performance improvement throughout the organization
- Passion for games, the industry and next-generation technology across multiple platforms
