InnovateHer Advisory Board Member
Join the InnovateHer Board – Make a Real Difference in Tech and Education
Do you believe in creating more diverse, inclusive, and welcoming opportunities in tech? Are you passionate about empowering the next generation of tech leaders and opening doors for young people? Could your expertise help us transform lives and shape a brighter digital future?
We’re seeking 1-2 specialist advisors with tech industry experience and networks to join the InnovateHer Board and play a pivotal role in driving our mission forward. As a small but growing social enterprise, we rely on the insights and guidance of our advisory board to shape our vision, maintain focus on impact, and ensure accountability to our community. Over the past five years, our board members have been instrumental in keeping us on course, challenging us to achieve ambitious goals, and advising on innovative strategies as we grow.
Now, we need your skills, knowledge, and passion to help us reach new heights.
About InnovateHer
We are on a mission: to get girls ready for the tech industry and the industry ready for girls.
Our work centres on three key pillars:
- Award-winning, tech-focused educational programmes for young people, including our innovative e-learning platform.
- An industry partnership network, working with organisations committed to EDI and workforce diversification.
- National campaigning to raise awareness and drive systemic change.
Currently, less than a quarter of the UK’s tech workforce is female. At InnovateHer, we aim to shatter stereotypes and remove barriers that discourage girls and non-binary young people (aged 13-17) from pursuing careers in technology. Through role models, educational programmes, and inspiring campaigns, we help young people develop self-belief, gain essential skills, and discover exciting career opportunities.
Since 2020, we’ve expanded our reach by offering online programmes, enabling us to engage with a more diverse audience across the UK. To date, we’ve positively impacted 66,000 young people, and our ambition is to scale further, supporting even more learners and industry professionals.
Your Role as a Board Member
As a member of the InnovateHer Board, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Shape and advise on strategies for scaling our impact and achieving sustainability.
- Provide critical input on business development, revenue generation, and organisational growth.
- Champion our mission and contribute fresh perspectives to help us innovate and expand.
We are looking for advisors with expertise in one or more of the following areas:
- Business Development: Experience in the third sector, particularly in helping charities and social enterprises commercialise offerings (ideally with tech industry organisations) and secure partnerships with corporate clients.
- New Revenue Streams/Lead Generation: Strategic and sales-focused individuals who can identify and capitalise on new funding opportunities.
- Scaling Third Sector Businesses: Proven success in helping organisations scale sustainably while maintaining impact and integrity.
You will be required to attend four meetings per year, and sometimes ad-hoc emergency or focused topic meetings. Three out of four meetings will be held online, and we try to meet in person once a year.
Our Values
At InnovateHer, our core values – Passion, Curiosity, Collaboration, Integrity, Entrepreneurship, and Courage – guide everything we do. We are committed to providing exceptional service to young people and the wider business community, underpinned by our belief that inclusive education can improve outcomes for all.
Who We’re Looking For
We are highly committed to increasing the diversity of our Board and encourage applications from individuals with a broad range of identities, backgrounds, and experiences.
This is a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people, helping to build a fairer, more inclusive future. We’d love to hear from you if you share our mission and values and have a business and sales background.
Join us as we take the next steps in this exciting and rewarding journey. Together, we can create a future where everyone has the opportunity to thrive in the tech industry.
