We’re InnovateHer, a remote-first organisation working with schools, the tech and tech-enabled industry and a wider network of EDI-focused professionals.

We are on a mission: To get girls ready for the tech industry and the industry ready for girls.

We are trying to achieve this through three strands of activity:

  1. Through our award-winning tech-focused educational programmes for 13to 17 year olds;
  2. Working with our industry partnership network to improve EDI;
  3. By campaigning to raise awareness on a national level of the need for diversity in tech.

We have big goals over the next few years. We’re seeking a Head of Growth Operations to maintain and develop the organisation’s structures to support our scaling ambition.

In 3 years InnovateHer will have:

  • Engaged with 100k students across the UK with our products
  • Increased the uptake of STEM-related GCSEs by 25% in schools we’ve worked with
  • 40 industry partners who are making measurable change to their EDI
  • 250 school relationships across the UK.
  • 10 Innovative programme themes on our eLearning platform in collaboration with well-known brands on our platform
  • National recognition for our work and are frequently showcased in the media

Your role will be key in managing our services’ internal growth and delivery, implementing effective processes, identifying how we can scale our operations and ensuring the teams work cohesively towards our goals.

You will work closely with our CEO and Head of Partnerships to shape the future of InnovateHer and how we deliver services, ensuring we have a productive and fulfilled team and a nourished community. This role will be integral in delivering our vision and ambition effectively, changing to meet the needs of our community and providing excellence across our three strands of activity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Growth, Planning and Strategy
  • Collaborate with SLT on planning to support scaling ambitions, making recommendations on implementing sustainable processes for scale, and team growth planning to support outputs and targets and identifying the targets for marketing and partnerships to achieve to support the ambition.
  • Leading the annual planning cycle, including supporting teams to complete their planning rounds, setting key organisational targets, and supporting team targets and metrics.
  • Develop and support the documentation of our key processes identifying problem areas and working with the teams to identify suitable solutions and best practices.
  • Lead the quarterly reporting away days allowing the team to review their deliverables against our objectives and targets, supporting them to develop the goals for the next quarter, celebrating successes and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Oversee the day to day operations of InnovateHer, keeping the team accountable for all delivery activity, ensuring we are making an impact within our community!

Theme 2: Finance, Reporting and Data Management

  • Have oversight and ownership of our impact measures, targets and reporting processes, monitoring results and making recommendations for improvement led by insights.
  • Ensure data is captured in line with GDPR and Data Protection guidelines and regulations.
  • Provide reports to the Advisory Board, Executive Directors and CEO to allow them to make effective decisions on strategy and operational development.
  • Lead the development of our annual Social Impact Report working closely with Marketing.
  • Work with the Leadership team to develop the annual budget to meet our growth targets and expenditure needs.
  • Run routine finance tasks, including; updating our budget documents, checking payroll for accuracy, payroll updates, checking Xero for outstanding invoices and processing incoming expenses and invoices.
  • Collaborate with our Head of Partnerships, ensuring deliverables are completed on time, to our agreed standard and on budget, what we’ve set out to achieve in our grant and partnership support grant applications and provide timely information to help meet any grant submission deadlines.
  • Work with the Leadership team to identify how to grow the business setting financial targets to support our impact and project the key milestones indicating success and the attached changing needs of the organisation.

Theme 3: HR

  • Manage our Digital Product Manager and eLearning Designer, and Developer
  • Maintain oversight of our HR practices, including annual leave, sick days, flexible working practices, ensuring set guidelines and policies are upheld and providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Lead and maintain oversight of the team structure, responsibilities and future team and capacity planning.
  • Oversee and support the recruitment and onboarding procedures as needed for our team and our advisory board and groups.
  • Research and update policies and guidance based on emerging HR and operational best practices, working alongside our external HR partner and SLT.
  • Lead our EDI strategy development, working in collaboration with the whole team.

About you:

The technical bits:

  • You have experience working with:
    • Monday.com or similar project management tools
    • Excel/Google Sheets
    • Xero or similar accounting software
  • Confident in managing in-year budgets and developing multi-year forecasts.

  • Crucially, we need a real people-person: someone who can support the varied arms of our business and can engage stakeholders with new ideas and processes, gaining buy-in.

  • We are a flexible working organisation and operate a 30-hour full-time working week, with the option to condense these into 4 days (many of the team, including directors, choose to work this way)

  • You get 21 days of annual leave (pro-rated for part-time team members), your birthday off, plus a full office shutdown at Christmas (approx 2 weeks)
  • We provide a laptop (Mac) and all the equipment needed to work remotely.

  • You get a £350 home equipment budget bi-annually, too
  • We meet face-to-face for 2 days every quarter, usually in Liverpool

Hours and Salary;

18 hours per week (flexible)

40k (Pro Rata)

Location:

As a remote-first organisation, you can work from home or any location in the UK. We have an office based in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle. This space can be used for collaboration or as a base to work from if working from home full-time isn’t for you. Once a quarter, we’ll ask you to meet with the rest of the team face-to-face for our planning and strategy days.

For certain roles, more travel may be involved to support event attendance, project deliverables and promote the organisation. Your line manager will discuss these requirements as they arise with you.

The Interview Process:

This will be a three stage process and the interview panel will consist of:

Lauren, Head of Partnerships
Leanne, Product Manager

The stages will be:

  1. An introduction and conversation with the interview panel
  2. A task-based interview where you do the task ahead of time and present it to us with time for questions.
  3. A conversation with one of our Non-Executive Directors or a Board member.

The first stage will take place in the w/c 19th of June.
