Thank you for the magic

Hello! I am Beth and I am 12 years old. I am a huge Harry Potter fan! I read The Philosopher”s Stone for the first time when I forgot to pack a book to read on the plane when going on holiday. I was originally going to get a different book, but my mum tried to persuade me to take a Harry Potter book. I finally took her advice and bought The Philosopher’s Stone and ever since I read it, I fell in love with the series. It is amazing to think that one person can have such a great, big imagination and come up with a phenomenon like Harry Potter.

I think that J.K Rowling is a great inspiration for everyone and especially girls with big dreams. I think that she is a true inspiration because she never gave up on her dreams and she truly believed in her magical creation. Her determination carried her through being rejected by twelve publishers and up until she was finally accepted by lucky number thirteen. We are all eternally grateful to the editor that finally saw the magic that millions of us see each time we pick up a Harry Potter book.

JK Rowling used to see herself as a complete failure. She was a single mum with a failed marriage and no job. At this period, she was diagnosed with depression and even thought about taking her own life. Yet, she used her writing as a way to escape from all of that. She went from surviving on benefits to being the first billionaire author.

J.K Rowling has not only used her stories to inspire people, but has given up much of her wealth to charities. It is amazing that she supports and gives money to charities that relate to her real life experiences like ‘Anti Poverty’ and ‘Multiple Sclerosis’, which her mum suffered from before her death. She also has her own charity called Lumos, which supports children with mental health not only in the UK, but all over the world. One way that she raises money is writing special books for charity. One of these books was the original Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, which was written and sold to raise money for Comic Relief.

J.K Rowling continued along her path of dreams and determination when the Harry Potter series was taken further by being made into the films, which we all know and love. I love how hard she worked to give us the best experience that she possibly could by making sure that every detail was as perfect as it could be. I believe she wanted every detail of the magical world she created to be exactly as she imagined. It was only her hard work overseeing the films that would allow this to happen.

She continues to inspire millions of people everyday, and that is why myself and many other people wish her a very happy birthday.

Thank you J.K Rowling for being an amazing role model to me, for changing my childhood and for giving me the most incredible adventures. Happy birthday!
